Global Week in Review : From Israeli Air Raids in Lebanon to Deadly Mosque Bombing in Pakistan

In Islamabad, Pakistan, mourners gathered in large numbers for funeral prayers after a suicide bombing at a Shia mosque killed dozens of worshippers and injured many others. The attack, one of the deadliest in the capital in recent months, has once again exposed Pakistan’s persistent struggle with militant violence and sectarian extremism, even in high-security urban centres.
Across the Middle East, scenes from southern Lebanon showed thick plumes of smoke rising after Israeli air strikes hit multiple locations. The strikes followed heightened tensions and near-daily cross-border hostilities, causing damage to civilian areas and fuelling fears of wider escalation despite calls for restraint.
The photo series also reflected broader unrest in the region. In Yemen, crowds of supporters rallied in the capital to protest regional developments and express solidarity with Palestinians, while in Gaza City, displaced families were seen sheltering in makeshift tents amid widespread destruction and humanitarian distress
.
Beyond the Middle East and South Asia, images highlighted severe humanitarian crises elsewhere. In Sudan’s Darfur region, displaced civilians were seen struggling to access food and water as famine conditions worsened amid ongoing conflict. In Ukraine, winter scenes underscored the toll of continued attacks on infrastructure, leaving many communities facing power shortages and harsh living conditions.
Together, the images present a stark portrait of a world grappling with violence, displacement and humanitarian emergencies — from sectarian attacks in Pakistan and military escalation in the Middle East to deepening crises in Africa and Eastern Europe.
