A fire broke out on Thursday in vacant coaches of the Jaynagar-Udhna Antyodaya Express at Madhubani Railway Station in Bihar, causing alarm among passengers and railway staff. The incident took place while the train was stationed on Platform No. 3 and was undergoing shunting operations. According to officials, one of the coaches was severely damaged and completely burned in the blaze.

Railway authorities confirmed that the Jaynagar-Udhna Antyodaya Express runs between Jaynagar in Bihar and Udhna in Gujarat. At the time of the incident, the train was not carrying passengers and remained stationary at the platform. Thick smoke rising from the affected coach created panic in the surrounding area, prompting an immediate response from railway personnel and emergency teams.

Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of the Samastipur Division, Jyoti Prakash Mishra, stated that a detailed inquiry has been initiated to determine the exact cause of the fire. He said officials from several departments, including safety, electrical, operations, and security, would jointly investigate every aspect of the case. Authorities have also collected statements from railway employees present at the scene, along with feedback from local residents and eyewitnesses.

Officials are examining multiple possibilities, including technical faults and the potential involvement of anti-social elements. The railway administration has assured that all angles will be thoroughly investigated before reaching any conclusions. This is not the first such incident at Madhubani Railway Station. In 2022, five coaches of the Swatantrata Senani Express, which was parked on the same platform, were also destroyed in a major fire incident. Further information regarding the latest fire and the extent of the damage is still awaited.
