Jagdish Patani, father of Bollywood actress Disha Patani, has addressed the ongoing speculation surrounding the recent shooting outside their Civil Lines residence in Bareilly. The incident had been linked to remarks made by his elder daughter, Khushboo Patani. Speaking to ANI, Jagdish Patani stated that Khushboo’s comments were “misrepresented” and wrongly associated with spiritual leader Premanand Ji Maharaj. He added, “Khushboo was misrepresented. Her name was dragged into the matter of Premanand Ji Maharaj. We are Sanatanis and respect sadhus and saints. Misrepresenting her statement appears to be a conspiracy to demean us.”

Khushboo had earlier criticised Aniruddhacharya for allegedly suggesting that women unmarried at 25 or older are usually promiscuous. Her comments sparked online backlash, prompting her to clarify on Instagram that her remarks were taken out of context and falsely linked to Premanand Ji Maharaj.

Police confirmed that two unidentified men on a motorbike fired shots outside Disha Patani’s residence early Friday morning. SSP Bareilly, Anurag Arya, said, “We received information about the firing at retired CO Jagdish Patani’s residence. Police teams were immediately deployed, an FIR has been registered, and armed personnel are protecting the family.” He further added that five investigation teams have been formed and assured, “We will take strict action against the accused. I personally met the family and assured them of their safety.”
