Diljit Dosanjh has taken responsibility for supporting 10 flood-affected villages in Punjab.

As Punjab struggles with severe flooding, singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has stepped in to help by adopting ten of the worst-affected villages in Gurdaspur and Amritsar. Working closely with NGOs and local authorities, his team announced on Instagram that their immediate focus is on providing food, clean water, and medical care, while also planning long-term rehabilitation and reconstruction. The post carried the hopeful message: “Together, we can rebuild.”
Other celebrities have also joined the relief efforts. Actor Sonam Bajwa, in an Instagram note, expressed her heartbreak over the devastation but praised the resilience of Punjab. She said she is donating to on-ground organisations and urged her followers to contribute as well, reminding them that even small efforts can change lives.
Actor Sanjay Dutt, sharing his concern on X, called the situation “truly heartbreaking” and extended prayers and support to all those impacted, pledging to help in every possible way. Singer-actor Ammy Virk announced via Instagram that he and his team have adopted 200 houses for flood-hit families, stressing that this initiative is about restoring dignity and hope, not just providing shelter.
Punjabi actor-singer Himanshi Khurana also pledged assistance, promising to help resettle 10 families. In her Instagram post, she urged celebrities, leaders, media, and the public to unite and contribute towards rebuilding Punjab, saying, “We will make our Punjab like it was before.” Meanwhile, the Punjab government ordered the temporary closure of all 43 centres under the Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM) until September 3 due to the floods.
Punjab Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister S. Hardeep Singh Mundian reported that over 2.56 lakh people in 12 districts have been affected, with thousands displaced and significant losses to property, crops, and livestock. So far, 15,688 people have been evacuated, the highest numbers being from Gurdaspur (5,549), Ferozepur (3,321), Fazilka (2,049), Amritsar (1,700), Pathankot (1,139), and Hoshiarpur (1,052). The state has set up 129 relief camps housing 7,144 people, with the largest camp population in Ferozepur (3,987), followed by Fazilka (1,201), Hoshiarpur (478), Pathankot (411), and Gurdaspur (424).
