Delhi Police no saturday,  stated that it has not received any complaint regarding the alleged assault of Ankit Dewan by an Air India Express pilot at Delhi Airport Terminal 1. The police confirmed that neither Dewan nor the airline has reported the matter to any police station, and that they became aware of the incident only through social media. Delhi Police added that once a written complaint is submitted by the victim, appropriate legal action will be taken.

“Regarding a social media post by Ankit Dewan alleging physical assault by an Air India Express pilot at Terminal 1, no such matter has been reported to the police station either by Dewan or by the airline. The police learned of this only through the social media post. Once a written complaint is received, appropriate legal action will follow,” Delhi Police said.

Earlier, Dewan claimed that the pilot physically assaulted him at the airport. According to him, he and his family were directed to use the PRM security check as they were traveling with a four-month-old baby. Dewan alleged that airport staff were cutting the line, and when he pointed it out, the pilot asked if he was uneducated, leading to a verbal scuffle and subsequent physical assault. Dewan shared on social media that the pilot, Capt. Virender Sejwal, left him injured and bloody.

Dewan also claimed he was forced to sign a letter agreeing not to pursue the matter further to avoid missing his flight and losing his holiday bookings worth ₹1.2 lakh. He criticized Delhi Airport for mismanaging the situation and questioned why he could not file a complaint after returning to Delhi, expressing concern that CCTV footage might be lost in the meantime.

Air India Express later expressed regret over the incident, condemned the pilot’s behavior, and stated that the pilot has been removed from official duties. The airline assured that appropriate action would be taken following a thorough investigation and pledged full cooperation with law enforcement.

“Ankit Dewan, we deeply regret this incident involving one of our employees traveling as a passenger on another airline. We strongly condemn such behavior. The employee has been removed from official duties, and appropriate action will follow after a thorough investigation. We remain fully committed to cooperating with law enforcement for a fair process,” Air India Express said.
