Delhi Police Kill 4 Members of Notorious Ranjan Pathak Gang in Rohini Encounter Ahead of Bihar Elections

Four members of the notorious Ranjan Pathak gang were killed in a police encounter in Delhi’s Rohini area in the early hours of October 23, 2025. The operation was a joint effort by the Delhi Police Crime Branch and Bihar Police, acting on intelligence that the gang was planning to unleash violence in Bihar ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
The encounter happened around 2:20 AM near Bahadur Shah Marg between Dr. Ambedkar Chowk and Pansali Chowk. The deceased gang members were identified as Ranjan Pathak (25), the leader from Sitamarhi, Bihar; Bimlesh Mahto alias Bimlesh Sahni (25); Manish Pathak (33); and Aman Thakur (21). All were wanted in several serious criminal cases, including multiple murders and extortion in Bihar.
Ranjan Pathak, known for his ruthless leadership of the “Sigma Gang,” was involved in high-profile killings and had a bounty on his head. The police had been tracking the gang's movement after receiving credible intelligence that they were hiding in Delhi and planning to conduct violent criminal activities timed just before the Bihar elections.
The joint police team attempted to apprehend the suspects, but the gang opened fire, triggering a fierce shootout. All four gangsters sustained fatal injuries and were declared dead at a hospital in Rohini. The police operation is being hailed as a significant blow to organized crime networks trying to disrupt law and order ahead of elections.
This encounter highlights the increasing cooperation between state police forces to tackle criminals operating across state borders, especially those threatening electoral security. Such proactive measures are crucial to maintaining peace and ensuring the democratic process is unhindered by violence.
