Coordinated terror Strike on Paramilitary HQ Rocks Peshawar

A major terror attack struck the headquarters of Pakistan’s Frontier Constabulary in Peshawar early Monday morning, leading to intense gunfire, explosions and a citywide security lockdown. According to local officials, the assault began when two suicide bombers detonated themselves one at the main gate of the complex and another inside the motorcycle parking area. Immediately after the blasts, heavily armed militants stormed the compound, triggering a fierce exchange of fire with security forces stationed inside.
Security units, including special commandos and rapid-response teams, quickly surrounded the area as plumes of black smoke filled the sky. Schools and nearby establishments were evacuated, and communication in the vicinity was partially restricted as authorities worked to contain the situation.
Initial reports confirm that at least three personnel of the paramilitary force were killed, and several others were injured, many of whom were taken to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment. Two militants who entered the premises were shot dead in the firefight, while one attacker is believed to have detonated his explosive vest during the clash.
Officials believe the attack was meticulously planned. The initial explosion at the gate created chaos, allowing gunmen to infiltrate through a side entrance. Security analysts say the style of assault combining suicide bombings with direct armed engagement is consistent with methods used by extremist groups active in the region. A militant faction later claimed responsibility, describing the headquarters as a strategic and symbolic target.
Political leaders condemned the attack, calling it a cowardly act intended to destabilize the nation. Security agencies have since launched a full-scale investigation to determine how the militants managed to breach such a high-security zone. The incident highlights the worsening security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, an area long vulnerable to militant violence, and raises fresh concerns about intelligence gaps and vulnerabilities in protecting critical installations.
Authorities are now reviewing security protocols across sensitive locations nationwide, while investigators work to trace the network behind the attack. The swift response by security forces is being credited with preventing an even greater tragedy.
