Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding India’s Got Latent, popular YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani appeared before the Guwahati Crime Branch, where his statement was officially recorded, according to authorities. Joint Police Commissioner Ankur Jain confirmed that notices had been issued to several individuals named in the FIR, including Ranveer Allahabadia, Samay Raina, Apoorva Mukhija, and Jaspreet Singh. Speaking to ANI, Jain stated, "Ashish Chanchlani voluntarily appeared before the Crime Branch, and we have recorded his statement. He cooperated fully and has assured us that he will be available whenever required."
However, Jain also noted that other individuals named in the FIR, including Allahabadia, Raina, Mukhija, and Singh, had not yet responded to the legal notices served to them. "We are proceeding as per legal protocol, and appropriate action will be taken," he added. The controversy erupted earlier this month when an FIR was filed against Chanchlani, Allahabadia, Raina, Mukhija, and others associated with India’s Got Latent over allegations of promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit discussions on a public YouTube platform.
On February 26, the Maharashtra Cyber Cell recorded the statement of social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija, also known as The Rebel Kid. Meanwhile, on Monday, both Chanchlani and Allahabadia voluntarily approached the Maharashtra Cyber Cell to provide their statements regarding the case. Authorities have reportedly summoned over 30 individuals for questioning. However, comedian and YouTuber Samay Raina, who hosted the show, has not yet recorded his statement.
The controversy intensified after a clip from the show went viral, in which Ranveer Allahabadia made a controversial remark. During a segment, he asked a contestant, "Would you rather watch your parents… or join in once and stop it forever?" The question sparked outrage across social media, with users condemning Allahabadia for his offensive comments.
