One person died and several others were injured after a bus collided with a stationary truck on National Highway 19 in Kanpur on Saturday. Police officials confirmed that the injured passengers were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. According to DCP West of the Kanpur Police Commissionerate, SM Qasim Abidi, the accident occurred when the bus rammed into a truck that was parked on the highway. He said that one person lost their life in the incident, while the injured victims were shifted to the hospital for medical care. Authorities have begun gathering more information about the circumstances that led to the crash.

An official from the National Highways Authority of India, who was present at the site, said the bus was travelling toward Kanpur at the time of the accident. He explained that several passengers sustained injuries, although most of them were minor. A few people were reported to have serious injuries. Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, and ambulances transported the injured passengers to nearby medical facilities.

Further details about the accident are still awaited as officials continue their investigation. In a separate incident earlier this month, a speeding Fortuner car struck a group of bikers in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, resulting in the death of a 22 year old student and injuries to three others. The accident occurred on March 5 at the Mohaddipur Overbridge in the Shahpur police station area.

The impact of the collision was severe, leading to the death of Akash Pandey, a third year MBBS student at Baba Raghav Das Medical College, who died on the spot. Two other victims suffered serious injuries, while another sustained minor injuries. Police arrested the driver, Golden Sahni, seized the vehicle, and registered a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
