Audi has officially launched the all-new A5 Sedan in Singapore, marking a significant step forward as the brand embarks on a new era of innovation and consolidation. This new model is the first to be built on Audi's Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), a flexible platform designed to support various types of drivetrains, including mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid systems. The A5 Sedan name reflects its dual role—it replaces both the outgoing A4 Sedan and the A5 Sportback in one unified offering. Interestingly, although Audi calls it a sedan, the vehicle is actually a liftback, sporting a wide-opening tailgate similar to the A5 Sportback’s design.

The new A5 is notably larger, stretching 4,829mm in length—67mm longer than its predecessors—and offers a 2,892mm wheelbase, resulting in improved cabin space. Inside, the standout feature is Audi’s new 'Digital Stage', a curved, panoramic digital display that integrates the driver’s instrument panel with a 14.5-inch infotainment screen. This system runs the latest version of Audi's MMI software and includes a built-in app store, allowing users to download popular platforms like Spotify, YouTube, and DAZN directly into the car. An optional extra screen for the front passenger is also available, though it costs an additional $3,400.

Under the hood, the A5 Sedan is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine producing 201 horsepower and 340Nm of torque, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. This setup enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds. For those seeking more performance, Audi plans to launch the S5 variant soon, featuring a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 engine that delivers 362 horsepower and 550Nm of torque.

At launch, two versions of the A5 are available. The entry-level A5 Sedan Advanced starts at $287,999 with COE and comes with features like a wireless phone charger, tri-zone climate control, and a range of advanced driver assistance systems including adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning. For an additional $15,000, buyers can opt for the A5 Sedan Edition One, which adds sporty upgrades like an S Line body kit, sports suspension, larger 19-inch alloy wheels, a head-up display, and a premium Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system. The A5 Sedan’s debut signals the beginning of a broader product refresh from Audi in Singapore. In the coming months, the brand is set to introduce several new models, including the electric Q6 e-tron crossover and the next-generation Q5 SUV.
