Asim Munir Raises Alarm Over India-Israel Ties, Calls Growing Hindu-Jewish Partnership a Threat to Pakistan

Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir has reportedly expressed concerns over strengthening relations between India and Israel, portraying the growing partnership as a potential threat to Pakistan and the wider Muslim world. The remarks were revealed by Iranian senior security official Mohsen Rezaei following a four-country security meeting in Tehran.
According to Rezaei, Munir raised the issue during discussions involving representatives from Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Turkey on October 26. The meeting focused on regional security developments and growing tensions involving Israel and other Middle Eastern countries.
Iran Reveals Munir's Alleged Remarks
In an interview with Iranian state broadcaster IRIB, Rezaei claimed that Munir had spoken about the emerging relationship between Hindus and Jews, suggesting that closer cooperation between India and Israel could pose a challenge to Pakistan and Muslim countries.
Rezaei also indicated that Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin shared concerns about Israel's regional ambitions. Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman reportedly discussed the possibility of Israel expanding its regional military and strategic influence.
However, the account of Munir's remarks comes from Rezaei's description of the private discussions and has not been independently verified.
India-Israel Strategic Partnership Continues to Grow
India and Israel have significantly expanded their cooperation across several sectors, including defence, intelligence sharing, counterterrorism, agriculture, trade and emerging technologies.
The relationship was further elevated to a Special Strategic Partnership during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Israel in February 2026.
Israel also expressed support for India's right to defend itself during Operation Sindoor in May 2025, following the Pahalgam terror attack.
The expanding partnership has strengthened cooperation between the two countries, particularly in defence technology and security-related areas.
Munir's Remarks Revive Pakistan's Two-Nation Theory Rhetoric
Munir's reported comments have also drawn attention because of his previous statements highlighting religious differences between Hindus and Muslims.
Before the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, the Pakistan Army chief invoked the Two-Nation Theory, arguing that Hindus and Muslims represented two distinct communities with different religious beliefs, traditions and ambitions.
His latest reported remarks, bringing India-Israel cooperation into a broader religious and geopolitical narrative, have once again raised questions about the role of religious rhetoric in Pakistan's regional foreign policy.
Regional Implications of Pakistan's Concerns
The reported comments come at a time when India is strengthening strategic partnerships with several countries, including Israel, while Pakistan is seeking greater diplomatic and security cooperation with regional powers such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Iran.
The Tehran meeting highlighted shared concerns among the participating countries regarding Israel's growing regional influence.
Nevertheless, India's expanding relationship with Israel is based on strategic, economic and security cooperation between two sovereign countries. Describing such bilateral ties as a threat to the wider Muslim world reflects a broader geopolitical interpretation rather than an established security assessment.
Rezaei's account has brought fresh attention to Islamabad's concerns over India's international partnerships and the increasingly complicated security dynamics across South Asia and the Middle East.
