Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday congratulated Sanjeev Arora, the newly elected MLA from Ludhiana West, for being inducted into the Punjab cabinet led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Arora, who previously served as a Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab, secured victory in the by-election and was sworn in as a cabinet minister.

In a post on X, Kejriwal extended his best wishes, expressing confidence in Arora’s ability to serve with honesty and dedication. He said Arora would fulfill the expectations of Punjab’s 3 crore people and contribute to the state's development. Earlier in the day, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann also congratulated Arora, voicing similar hopes for his impartial and sincere service toward the welfare of the people. The oath ceremony was conducted at Raj Bhavan by Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria.

Arora resigned from the Rajya Sabha on July 2, a move accepted immediately by Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar. His election followed the vacancy left by the demise of AAP MLA Gurpreet Bassi. In the bypoll, Arora defeated Congress candidate Bharat Bhushan Ashu and SAD’s Parupkar Singh Ghumman, winning by a margin of 10,637 votes. He took oath as MLA in Chandigarh, administered by Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan.
