Anupam Kher backs Prime Minister Modi's campaign for resource conservation, chooses train travel from Jaipur to Delhi.

Anupam Kher has expressed support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent call for fuel conservation and sustainable living by choosing to travel from Jaipur to New Delhi on the Vande Bharat Express. The veteran actor shared a video from his train journey on social media, calling it a modest step towards promoting responsible use of resources and reducing fuel consumption. In the clip, Kher said the Prime Minister’s message about saving petrol and diesel, using public transport whenever possible, and adopting habits like carpooling was both practical and necessary.
Explaining his decision, Kher mentioned that travelling by train was not a major sacrifice, but small individual efforts could collectively create a meaningful impact for the country. He also stressed the need for everyday behavioural changes, saying people should avoid using multiple vehicles unnecessarily when one can serve the purpose.
Ending his message with “Jai Hind,” the actor encouraged citizens to contribute in whatever way they can towards sustainability and national development. In the caption accompanying the video, Kher described the train journey as his personal contribution to the Prime Minister’s campaign focused on resource conservation and environmental responsibility.
Prime Minister Modi recently made the appeal during an event in Secunderabad, where he urged citizens to reduce fuel usage by preferring public transport, metro rail systems, carpooling, electric vehicles, and railway networks for transportation of goods. He also encouraged people to adopt sustainable lifestyles and lower dependence on imported products.
On the professional front, Kher is currently promoting his stage production Jaane Pehchaane Anjaane, a musical composed by Anu Malik and directed by Gajendra Ahire. The production recently premiered at Mumbai’s NCPA Tata Theatre. The actor was also recently honoured at the UK International Film Festival Flame Awards 2026, where he won the Best Supporting Actor award for Calorie.
