New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah affirmed that the Narendra Modi government is determined to give a strong response to any attack on India and its citizens. This statement came after Indian forces conducted overnight aerial strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK). The Indian military launched 'Operation Sindoor' after midnight as retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. Amit Shah described the operation as "Bharat's response" to the horrific killings in Pahalgam.

On social media, Shah expressed his pride in the country's armed forces and reiterated India's commitment to fighting terrorism. "Proud of our armed forces. Operation Sindoor is Bharat's response to the brutal killing of our innocent brothers in Pahalgam. The Modi government is resolute in giving a strong reply to any attack on India and its people. India remains committed to eradicating terrorism from its roots," he said.

The April 22 massacre saw the killing of 25 tourists and a Kashmiri pony ride operator in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, by terrorists linked to a Pakistan-based terror group. The multi-service operation targeted nine bases across the border and the Line of Control, used by terrorist organizations such as Lashkar-e-Taiba, Hizbul Mujahideen, and Jaish-e-Mohammad. Later, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar tweeted a brief message, emphasizing that the world must adopt zero tolerance toward terrorism.
