Nothing has given fans a first look at its upcoming flagship wireless earbuds, the Nothing Ear 3, which are set to launch on September 18. The company shared a teaser video on its Nothing Community platform, highlighting both the earbuds and their charging case, revealing a noticeable design upgrade over previous models. This time, Nothing has opted for a more premium feel, replacing the earlier plastic casing with a partially aluminum build. The charging case also introduces a new feature called the “Super Mic”, which adds intrigue to the upcoming earbuds.

The teaser shows the case with an aluminum panel that secures the earbuds, sandwiched between what appears to be a transparent plastic base and lid. A new “Talk” button is positioned on the aluminum frame alongside a speaker and microphone near the USB-C port. While the company has not explained its exact functionality, it describes the setup as a “breakthrough Super Mic.” Reports suggest this could be tied to Nothing’s integration of ChatGPT into its ecosystem, following the first-generation Nothing Ear, which made ChatGPT the default voice assistant on compatible devices.

As for the earbuds, they retain the familiar transparent casing but now include metallic silver accents. According to Nothing, the design upgrades allow for an ultra-slim form, minimal clearance between components, and a re-engineered metal antenna with a flat finish, achieving a thickness of just 0.35 mm—pushing the limits of current industry standards.

Interestingly, the Ear 3 and its case do not feature the “Sound by KEF” branding seen on the Nothing Headphone 1. While Nothing had partnered with UK-based audio brand KEF for tuning its devices, it appears the branding will not carry over to this new release. With a sleeker design, premium materials, and innovative features like the Super Mic, the Nothing Ear 3 looks set to continue the company’s trend of combining futuristic aesthetics with cutting-edge audio technology.
