Five U.S. F-35 jets touched down in Puerto Rico on Saturday, following President Donald Trump’s order last week to deploy 10 of the stealth fighters to the Caribbean as part of a military buildup aimed at combating drug cartels amid escalating tensions with Venezuela. The aircraft were observed landing at the former Roosevelt Roads military base in Ceiba, Puerto Rico, by Reuters contract photographer Ricky Arduengo. In recent days, the base has also hosted U.S. helicopters, Osprey aircraft, other transport planes, and military personnel.
