US-Iran Conflict: Trump Claims Military Sites on Kharg Island Destroyed, Releases Strike Footage
The United States has launched strikes against military targets on Iran’s Kharg Island, a strategically important site in the Persian Gulf and a major center for Iran’s oil exports. US President Donald Trump stated that American forces destroyed military facilities on the island while intentionally avoiding any damage to oil infrastructure. Kharg Island manages most of Iran’s crude oil exports and is located near the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most vital energy chokepoints. Trump also cautioned that oil installations could become targets if shipping through the strait is disrupted. At the same time, two Indian ships are expected to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, underscoring the ongoing risks to commercial maritime traffic as tensions affect shipping routes in the Gulf. The strait typically carries a large portion of global oil supplies, so any disruption could have significant worldwide consequences.
