A 36-year-old US citizen, Jordan Brown of California, was detained by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) near the Sonauli border in Uttar Pradesh on July 11, 2026, after allegedly attempting to cross into Nepal through an unauthorized route without carrying a passport, visa, or any valid travel documents. Brown identified himself as a former member of the U.S. Navy and Special Forces.
