The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly has unanimously adopted a resolution calling on the Union government to withdraw the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, in its current form. Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay-led government said the Bill’s stringent provisions on asset confiscation, renewal of registrations and regulatory oversight could affect the independence of charitable, educational and healthcare institutions, especially those managed by minority communities.
