Pakistan and Afghanistan have reached a temporary 48-hour ceasefire after several days of intense border clashes. The renewed violence erupted early Wednesday along the Afghanistan-Pakistan frontier, with both nations blaming each other for starting the deadly confrontation. Pakistan’s military reported that its troops had killed between 15 and 20 Taliban fighters and wounded several others in the Spin Boldak border region. Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Taliban government claimed that Pakistani shelling killed 12 Afghan civilians and left more than 100 injured, also alleging that several Pakistani soldiers were killed. These casualty figures have not been independently verified.
