Nepal-Tibet Floods: Death Toll Climbs Past 900 Amid Widespread Devastation

The death toll from the devastating floods in Nepal rose to 959 on Monday, while the number of people reported missing reached 4,247, according to the latest update from Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA). The floods struck northern Nepal, an area bordering Tibet in southern China, last week, causing widespread destruction and leaving thousands of people unaccounted for. The latest figures represent an increase of 115 deaths and more than 1,700 missing people compared with the previous count recorded on the Nepalese side of the border. Across Nepal and the affected areas on the other side of the border, the disaster has now resulted in a combined toll of 919 deaths and 4,793 people reported missing, according to the latest available figures.
