After eight months of closure, the Rafah border crossing has reopened, allowing sick and wounded Palestinians to leave Gaza for medical care in Egypt. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 34 children, three adults, and 39 companions crossed into Egypt to receive treatment.
The crossing had been shut since May last year when Israeli forces took control of the Gaza side. Its reopening comes as part of a ceasefire and hostage exchange agreement between Hamas and Israel.
