Egypt Had Issued Three Warnings to Israel About Signs of an Impending Attack

A report published by The Atlantic says Egypt’s intelligence chief, Abbas Kamel, made a discreet visit to Israel on September 26, 2023, shortly before the Hamas-led October 7 attack. The report claims Kamel cautioned Israeli officials that tensions in Gaza were approaching a critical point and called for economic measures toward Hamas to help reduce the growing pressure. According to the report, however, Kamel did not provide Israeli officials with a specific date or detailed plan for a potential attack. Egypt has also continued to reject any proposal involving the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, reaffirming its position at the United Nations.
