The 10th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, commenced on Saturday. This year's meeting revolves around the theme 'Viksit Rajya for Viksit Bharat@2047'. As NITI Aayog's highest decision-making body, the Governing Council comprises all state chief ministers, Union Territory lieutenant governors, and several Union ministers. Prime Minister Modi serves as its chairman.

This marks the first significant interaction between the Prime Minister and the chief ministers and lieutenant governors since Operation Sindoor. Reaffirming his vision of working with all states as 'Team India' toward building a developed India, Prime Minister Modi is leading the 10th council session on May 24, 2025.

In a prior statement, NITI Aayog noted that the meeting will focus on strategies for achieving the goals outlined in Viksit Rajya for Viksit Bharat @2047. The initiative calls on states to develop bold, long-term, and inclusive vision documents aligned with national priorities while reflecting local needs. These plans are expected to include clear, time-bound targets. The Governing Council typically meets once a year. Last year’s session was held on July 27, while the council first convened on February 8, 2015.
