K. Kavitha Claims BRS-BJP Secret Pact, Suggests KTR Betrayed Her While She Was in Jail

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and MLC K. Kavitha has made explosive claims, accusing members of her own party of plotting to sideline her and even attempting to merge the BRS with the BJP during her time in jail. Speaking to journalists, Kavitha implied that her brother, K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), may have betrayed her and criticized the party leadership for staying silent on critical issues, including the Justice P.C. Ghose Commission's notice to party chief K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR).
Kavitha claimed that while she was imprisoned in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case last year, discussions were held within the BRS to align with the BJP—something she said she strongly opposed, even at the cost of her own freedom. She accused the party of lacking resistance against Congress actions, such as sending bulldozers to the homes of BRS leaders, and questioned why leadership has limited itself to online statements rather than meaningful political action. She announced that her organization, Telangana Jagruthi, would hold a protest on June 3, just ahead of KCR’s scheduled appearance before the commission investigating the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project.
Tensions escalated further after a letter she had written to KCR was leaked. In the letter, she had criticized the party’s passive approach towards the BJP during the BRS’s silver jubilee celebrations in Warangal. Kavitha denied any role in the leak, saying she has sent numerous letters to her father over the years, but this was the first time she received no response—something she called “her mistake.”
While affirming her loyalty to KCR, she firmly stated she would not work under any other leader. Kavitha hinted at a significant announcement ahead of Telangana Formation Day on June 2 but did not provide details. She also took a dig at what she described as "paid social media workers" shaping the party’s image and questioned why only KCR and KTR appeared on BRS posters. According to sources, she saw this as a clear signal that she was being pushed aside and KTR was being projected as KCR’s successor.
Kavitha also voiced concerns about the party favoring corporate interests in Rajya Sabha nominations and appointments, asking whether those individuals now support Congress Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. She insisted she has never pursued power or positions and is committed to the party’s core values. When asked if she might start her own party, Kavitha responded cryptically, “Why should I deny it? No one knows what the future holds.” Her statements drew a sharp reaction from Congress. MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy suggested she call for a probe into the BRS’s decade-long governance and name those she referred to as “devils.” Government Whip Beerla Ilaiah added that her comments validate longstanding suspicions about a covert deal between BRS and the BJP.
