Amid the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Rajasthan, Chief Election Officer Naveen Mahajan stated that over 90% of the counting phase has been completed in the state. Speaking to ANI, he noted that more than 13,500 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have completed all their tasks, with most remaining booths nearly finished. He expressed confidence that the target would be easily achieved, with six days remaining.

Mahajan highlighted that the most challenging areas were Western Rajasthan's desert regions and southern Rajasthan's tribal TSP areas due to difficult geography. Strategic focus on these regions has resulted in 84% of voters being mapped, minimizing the need for document submission. In Western Rajasthan, Barmer, Balotra, and Phalodi have over 90% mapping, while southern districts, including Salumbar, range between 85–90%, with Salumbar exceeding 90%.

He emphasized the vital role of BLOs, calling them “foot soldiers” who visit every voter’s home. Acknowledging the difficulties in reaching households where both spouses are working, Mahajan said over 2,500 BLOs were honored for their exceptional work in the first SIR phase and encouraged continued dedication in the current phase.

The Election Commission of India is conducting the second phase of SIR across 12 states and Union Territories, with the final voter list scheduled for February 7, 2026. The first phase was completed in Bihar in September. The exercise includes Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.

According to the ECI, printing and training took place from October 28 to November 3, followed by the Enumeration Phase from November 4 to December 4. Draft Electoral Rolls were published on December 9, with a claims and objections period until January 8, 2026. The Notice Phase for verification runs from December 9 to January 31, 2026, ahead of the final electoral rolls on February 7, 2026.
