Second Group of Amarnath Pilgrims Departs from Pahalgam, Appreciate the Arrangements

On Friday morning, the second group of Amarnath Yatra pilgrims began their journey from Pahalgam, undeterred by recent security concerns. Despite the backdrop of the April 2025 terror attack in Pahalgam, devotees praised the arrangements and expressed confidence in the safety measures in place. Manoj Singh, a pilgrim from Noida traveling with 12 others, shared his excitement about the pilgrimage, saying, "This is my first time, and I'm thrilled. The arrangements are excellent. There's no reason to be afraid."
Another devotee, Disha Chavda, emphasized the spiritual significance of the journey. “We are praying for peace and prosperity for all. Everything is very well organized. I’m looking forward to Baba’s darshan and praying for peace across the country,” she told ANI. Meanwhile, the first group of pilgrims, who began their trek from the Baltal base camp on Thursday, reached the Holy Amarnath Cave. They performed aarti and sang devotional bhajans upon arrival. Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje was among those in the first batch.
Security along the Amarnath Yatra route has been significantly strengthened in response to recent threats. More than 50,000 personnel from the CRPF, Army, and local police forces have been deployed. Surveillance is being maintained through CCTV cameras, drones, jammers, and facial recognition systems.
Additionally, comprehensive safety measures including medical teams, air ambulances, and emergency evacuation plans have been put in place. The pilgrimage, which commenced on Thursday, is progressing along both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes. The Jammu-Srinagar Highway remains a vital corridor for the thousands of pilgrims journeying to the sacred Amarnath Cave.
