Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Misa Bharti criticised the Bihar government over the withdrawal of security cover and the eviction notice issued to her parents, former Chief Ministers Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi. She alleged that the move was a deliberate attempt to divert public attention from major concerns such as rising unemployment and inflation.

Speaking to the media, Misa Bharti questioned the government’s motives, highlighting the contributions of her parents. She said that Lalu Prasad Yadav had served as Railway Minister and Chief Minister, while Rabri Devi was the state’s first woman Chief Minister and currently the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council. Despite their positions, she claimed, their residence was being taken away and their security cover had been removed.

The Rajya Sabha MP further accused the NDA-led Bihar government of trying to shift focus away from its failures by creating such controversies. According to her, the public was fully aware of the government’s intentions. The issue gained attention after the Bihar government downgraded the Z-plus security cover provided to both Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi. Following the order, the couple reportedly asked all remaining security personnel deployed outside their 10 Circular Road residence in Patna to leave.

The controversy intensified after the state government directed Rabri Devi to vacate the bungalow, which has now been allotted to Bihar Minister Nand Kishore Ram. Officials stated that Rabri Devi had already been assigned another government residence on Hardinge Road in her capacity as Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Council, but she had not shifted there yet.

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary defended the government’s stand during a public event in Sheikhpura. He said government residences belong to the public and should not be treated as personal or ancestral property. He also claimed that he himself had vacated official accommodation within 24 hours after his tenure ended.

The 10 Circular Road residence has now been allotted to Animal and Fisheries Resources Minister Nand Kishore Ram. Chaudhary reiterated that government housing is intended strictly for official purposes and should be vacated once a leader’s tenure concludes. Reacting to the eviction notice earlier, Rabri Devi asserted that even if authorities used force, she would not vacate the residence.
