PM Modi to Launch Rs 48,520 Crore Development Projects in Bihar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for a series of development projects worth over ₹48,520 crore in Karakat, Bihar, on Friday. Currently on a two-day visit to the state, the PM arrived in Patna on Thursday and is scheduled to address a public rally in Karakat. As per official sources, PM Modi will unveil several key infrastructure initiatives, including the foundation stone laying of the Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project (Stage-II) in Aurangabad, valued at more than ₹29,930 crore. This project aims to enhance energy security in Bihar and eastern India by strengthening the region’s power infrastructure. The initiative is expected to spur industrial development, generate employment, and improve access to affordable electricity.
In the transportation sector, the PM will initiate multiple road projects aimed at enhancing connectivity. These include the four-laning of the Patna-Arrah-Sasaram stretch (NH-119A), six-laning of the Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata highway (NH-319B), and construction of a new Ganga bridge between Buxar and Bharauli. Additional projects such as the four-laning of the Patna-Gaya-Dobhi section of NH-22 and upgrades in Gopalganj town on NH-27 will contribute to seamless high-speed travel, increased trade, and regional integration.
Furthermore, Modi will dedicate the newly constructed third rail line between Son Nagar and Mohammad Ganj, developed at a cost of over ₹1,330 crore. On Thursday, the Prime Minister inaugurated a new terminal building at Patna’s Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport, constructed at a cost of ₹1,200 crore. He also laid the foundation stone for a new civil enclave at Bihta Airport, estimated at ₹1,410 crore.
Calling the day historic for Bihar, BJP spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said the PM’s engagements would significantly energize party workers ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. Later that evening, Modi led a grand roadshow through Patna, which started near Aranya Bhawan and ended at the state BJP office, covering around 4 km in over an hour. Thousands of people lined the streets to greet him, while he responded with folded hands and waves.
The PM also held a strategy meeting with BJP leaders at the party’s office on Birchand Patel Marg, where he reportedly shared guidance for winning the forthcoming elections. He concluded the evening with a visit to Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha’s residence for a private function, before retiring at the Raj Bhavan. Photos of the PM at the DyCM’s home were later shared online, marking the event as a memorable occasion for party members.
