OpenAI's annualized revenue reached 10 billion dollars, increasing from 5.5 billion dollars in December 2024.

OpenAI announced on Monday that its annualized revenue run rate has jumped to $10 billion as of June, signaling strong progress toward its full-year revenue goal amid surging demand for AI tools. The company's current revenue trajectory, up from approximately $5.5 billion in December 2024, reflects significant growth driven by the widespread adoption of its ChatGPT AI models. Based on this momentum, OpenAI appears on track to reach its previously stated 2025 revenue goal of $12.7 billion.
An OpenAI spokesperson clarified that the $10 billion figure does not include licensing income from key partner Microsoft or large one-time deals. CNBC first reported these details. Despite reporting a $5 billion loss last year, OpenAI’s latest revenue milestone underscores its lead over competitors in terms of scale, even as other AI companies also benefit from increased demand. Rival firm Anthropic, for example, recently surpassed $3 billion in annualized revenue, boosted by strong usage from code-generation startups.
In March, OpenAI revealed plans to raise up to $40 billion in a funding round led by SoftBank Group, valuing the company at $300 billion. Since launching ChatGPT over two years ago, OpenAI has rolled out numerous subscription plans targeting both consumers and businesses. By the end of March, it had reached 500 million weekly active users.
