In a major boost to India’s naval capabilities, the Ministry of Defence has inked a substantial agreement with the United States, worth around ₹7,995 crore, to provide long-term sustainment support for the Indian Navy’s fleet of MH‑60R Seahawk helicopters. This five-year deal, formalized under the US Foreign Military Sales program, underscores the growing defence collaboration between the two nations and highlights India’s focus on strengthening its maritime security.

The MH‑60R Seahawk is a versatile, multi-role helicopter, capable of performing a wide range of missions, including anti-submarine warfare, maritime surveillance, and surface combat operations. While India had procured 24 of these helicopters in an earlier deal, the current agreement ensures that the fleet remains fully operational and combat-ready.
